As someone who has been studying wine and viticulture for nearly five years, I’m always looking for opportunities to combine my education with entertainment. I’ve watched over 25 wine movies. Some are overly promotional to the featured winery or brand, and others are more about entertainment than education.

This list of nine films offers an engaging blend of entertainment and education. These films are not only captivating entertainment but also a source of wine education, introducing the intricate details of winemaking, farming, tasting, and the cultural significance of wine.

For example, the 1976 Judgment of Paris, as dramatized in “Bottle Shock,” marks a crucial moment in wine history. This blind-tasting event, which saw California wines unexpectedly triumph over French wines, is a tale of underdog victory and a pivotal moment that reshaped the global wine industry’s dynamics, challenging preconceived notions about wine quality and regional superiority.
